Also, from the Start Menu, go to Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map.
This will have the characters for all the fonts and will tell you the keystroke in the bottom right-hand corner of the box.
If you have a little patience, you can change your keyboard to the United States International version. Once you do that, you will not need to do any of the above to type accents. Follow the links for the version of Windows you have:
